After 323 days at sea travelling through 13 countries, Mayo man Johnny Coyne has completed the world’s first expedition of kayaking from Dublin to Istanbul. Mayo native Johnny Coyne, alongside his friends, Liam Cotter and Ryan Fallon undertook a major challenge of completing a world-first kayak journey: kayaking 5,000km from Dublin to Istanbul. Johnny and Liam, both 24, began their expedition on Thursday, September 5, on the River Liffey at St Patrick’s Rowing Club, Dublin. The pair were joined by latecomer Ryan Fallon in Strasbourg, Germany on January 12, after the passing of his younger brother, Rhys. Ryan initially intended on kayaking for two days, but he went on to continue the journey to the very end to Istanbul.
